FRIEDRICH NIETZSCHE (October 15, 1844 - August 25, 1900) Nietzsche was an entirely unsystematic philosopher. When he philosophized at all it was 'with a hammer,' breaking down brittle thoughts. Nietzsche is better described as an 'anti-moralist' who passionately rejected Western bourgeois civilization. He regarded Christianity as decadent, and in place of its 'slave morality' he looked to the Übermensch, a heroic and noble individual who would consciously affirm life and whose 'will to power' would set him off from 'the herd' of humanity.
